"Ground Truth" and Pot Luck for Visiting Monks

1.)  When I go to First Parish Today, I will check on availability of rooms so we can have a local showing of Ground Truth.  I now have the copy purchased through Move On.  After our showing, I will place the copy at First Parish Library.

2) Please hold 3/15 open to join in a potluck for visiting monks who are walking for peace.  When confirmed Mary Farrell and I will send out an email inviting all to participate.

3)Vigil planning is still going ahead: I am looking for bagpipers, violinists, flutists, celloists, etc. to play for a short periods during the 4 hour vigil on March 17.  Also looking for someone to play taps.

RE: Urgent: please attend contested showing of "Ground Truth" in Hingham March 14th

Thank You for sending this, Ted.
Have any of us seen "Ground Truth" yet?

In light of television journalist Bob Woodruff's special program @ 10 PM
last evening (Tuesday), "TO IRAQ AND BACK: BOB WOODRUFF", (Please go to
www.abcnews.com to watch the full show)
I am thinking that, perhaps the Hingham veterans that are complaining about
the upcoming film viewing , must not have served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
As Bob Woodruff highlighted, the diagnosis of TBI (traumatic brain injury)
and CHI (closed head injury) has not even been added to the VA system's
vocabulary.
We hear the number of deaths,
but what is not so readily reported are the thousands who come home never to
be the same again. And, our Veterans Administration system is failing them,
as they are not receiving the medical and rehabilitation services they
continue to require and deserve.
Bob Woodruff made a miraculous recovery, after a bomb hit the tank he was
riding in - he is now trying to determine how best to use his lifetime to
help veterans in need.

Please watch!
Thank You,
Peace & Love,

Donnamarie

>>"The Ground Truth" is a documentary film about the challenges faced by
>>returning Iraq veterans which has been critically praised. People are
>>showing it all over the country to raise awareness about the plight of our
>>returning veterans.
>>
>>A Hingham citizen has scheduled a showing at the Hingham Public Library,
>>and some Hingham veterans have objected. Here is the time and date:
>>
>>Wednesday, March 14, 7 p.m.
>>Hingham Public Library, Whiton Room
>>66 Leavitt Street
>>
>>The Peace Forum supports community discussion of issues of peace, and this
>>is an opportunity to do our best to set a respectful tone for the
>>discussion, while protecting our right to see this movie, and supporting
>>the library's decision to go forward with it. Please attend, and bring
>>your friends. Here is a message we received from the library director:
>>
>>The fact that the film is being shown in Hingham has upset some of the
>>town's vets. A Hingham Vietnam Vet had written the Selectmen asking them
>>to cancel the program at the Library. The Selectmen have recognized that
>>it isn't in their jurisdiction to address the matter and have left it to
>>me and theTrustees to handle. I do expect some of the vets to picket the
>>Library on 3/14 and possibly to be very vocal at the showing. By the way,
>>the film has been well-reviewed by a number of film critics.
>>
>>If anyone is interested in learning about the film, I'd suggest going to
>>the website www.thegroundtruth.net . Thanks for any help you can offer in
>>getting the word out.
